Rita Pottinger Niman, 100, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the home of her granddaughter, Betsy and her husband, Derrick Sewell at Lake Gaston in Henrico, NC. Her passing came exactly 16 years after the death of her husband of 61 years, Willis Kennedy Niman. She was the daughter of the late Robert E. Lee Pottinger and Estella Mae Cash Pottinger.

Rita moved from Kentucky to Virginia Beach, VA in 2002 to live with her daughter Kay Niman-Meyers and to be close to family. She enjoyed attending Bayside Presbyterian Church, exercising with Kempsville Recreation Center friends and knitting.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay Niman-Meyers of Virginia Beach, VA; her adopted sons, Mike Coyle of KS and Pat Coyle of KY; her grandchildren, Elizabeth ''Betsy'' Sewell and her husband, Derrick of Henrico, NC and Christopher L. Fish of Virginia Beach, VA; her great grandchildren, Derek-Lee Sewell, Bodhi L. Fish, and Casey Fish; and her sister, Betty Washer of LaConner, WA.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Bayside Presbyterian Church, 1400 Ewell Road off of Independence Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA with Rev. David Rollins officiating.
